Waste Management

Waste is becoming an increasingly complex and litigious area. Recent legislation and European and UK rulings have changed both the definition of waste and the way in which industry manages its materials and by-products.

Alexander Associates' consultants have produced guidance on the definition of waste for the construction sector, assessed waste streams and treatment processes to determine reuse and waste reduction strategies.

The range of waste management services Alexander Associates can provide include the following:
  • advising on legislative changes;
  • identifying types of waste materials produced;
  • determining when a material becomes a waste;
  • assessing opportunities for re-use;
  • identifying licensing implications;
  • developing and co-ordinating applications for waste management licences and exemptions;
  • classification of waste streams including its hazardous properties and European Waste catalogue Codes;
  • assisting in the development of project waste management plans; and
  • staff training on waste issues.
